More about this scene
It is just after midday on a summer's day in 1918. War-weary visitors try to banish the horrors of the First World War for a few hours. A careful examination of the crowds shows a sprinkling of uniforms, though many of the men in the scene seem to have cast off their uniforms for 'mufti'.
