More about this scene
By the 1920s Bournemouth had become a major south coast resort, rivalling Brighton and Torquay. The traffic in the Square increased accordingly, with private motor cars competing with the charabanc for parking spaces. The latter would take trippers to the many beautiful localities nearby, such as Purbeck and the New Forest.
