More about this scene
By the 1950s, Bournemouth was at the height of its popularity and one of the most prosperous towns in England, as this view of the town centre shows. At the height of the summer it became difficult to find an available bed in the resort's many hotels and guest houses. In the background here is the 200-foot high spire of St. Peter's church, which dominates the heart of Bournemouth.
