Bowness On Windermere, St Martin's Church 1925

More about this scene
Here we see St Martin's Church after its 1870 renovation, in an apparently spacious setting but with the buildings of old Bowness tightly packed behind. Motor cars are now much in evidence, with various pedestrians rather anxiously taking care in crossing the road. The rear end of a large vehicle, probably an early motor bus, can be seen heading towards the lake (left).
