More about this scene

In this later picture, the 'Teal', a comparatively modern large boat, launched in 1936, approaches the steamer pier at Bowness. Both the 'Teal', and her sister ship the 'Swan', launched in 1938, are diesel-powered. The islands we can see are Hen Holme and the larger Lady Holme. The latter was the site of an ancient chantry, and is now owned by the National Trust.
