Girl's Finishing School

A Memory of Box.

In the early 1960 I attended a girls school here....one of the most pleasant times of my childhood.
Of course, the surround areas were enchanting and quite amazing for a young person from the Bahama Islands.
I plan to visit again in the next year or two.
The gardens were struggling while I was there, but the topiaries were magnificent.

I lived in Box and was a church choir-boy. I remember one choir practise eve, we went to Hazelbury Manor School and gave a pre-Xmas concert for the girls.
I was the youngest choir member ( about 11 in 1961 ) the girls gave me a gingerbread man they had baked.
I also remember a great magician show.
Happy days !
Was at Hazelbury Manor in 1966 (which was then called a "Finishing School"), beautiful place and some fond memories of the girls I met and our weekend trips into Bath. Rules were very strict and food very stodgy but, overall, it was fun! Beautiful place and am sad it is closed as would love to revisit.
I was also at the school from September 1966 but perhaps you were the previous schoolyear? I don't remember your name. I'm trying to contact as many girls as possible to have a reunion. Have you kept in touch with many?
