Road improvements in the 1960s swept away these stone houses to make way for the greater convenience of the motorist. The mature cyclist is about to free-wheel into the High Street off to the right. Note the Brooke Bond Tea advertisement – its packets included picture cards, collected eagerly by myself and numerous other children in the 1950s. Bozeat concludes our tour of industrial Northamptonshire.

Time Flies....
My father relocated our family back to England from Nyasaland (now Malawi) to Bozeat in 1962 and he became station master at nearby Castle Ashby Station. The 1959 move to Africa ended with the demise of The Commonwealth. When Britsih Railways went through a Beaching transformation, at that time, Dad found our family jobless again, so we tried Australia in 1965 and have remained there, or thereabout, ever since. Evacuee
My Mum, Sybil Anne Clark née Cornwell, was evacuated from London to Bozeat during World War Two. Sadly, my Mum now resides in a nursing home and is suffering from the advanced stages of dementia. As you may be aware, one of the symptoms of this pernicious disease is that it robs people of their past by destroying the path ways in the brain that allow access to memories. My Memory's Of Bozeat Windmill
MY farther was the headmaster at the school from 1949 till 1962 He made a scrap book with history of the village and as far as I can remember it was given to a small museum in Northampton. The book had some information on the mill and village history. Hope this helps ,if you want any more info please contact me on this Email address. Nigel Terry

The Old Mill
Can anyone remember the old windmill in a field just off Olney Road? It was blown down in a very strong gale in, I think, March 1948. I seem to remeber that 2 sisters by the name of Little, used to live in a house very close by. It was in the area where the original houses in Mill Road were built

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
