Braintree, Bank Street 1903

More about this scene
Bank Street underwent an unexpected transformation in February 1941, when this corner was destroyed by a bomb. Only three years earlier, the 15th- century half-timbered 'island' in the middle of the street had been removed in a road-widening measure. Here, it is Frederick Pluck's - supplier of boots, shoes, woollens and tailoring.
