More about this scene
Cook's the butchers (right) were 'noted for sausages and pork pies', according to their fascia. The shop on the extreme right later made way for the Central Cinema, although it has long since reverted to shopping purposes. Down the street, just to the right of the white canopy, was the entrance to West's brush factory - one of Braintree's key industries.
