More about this scene
Webber's Post 1923 From near Luccombe the road climbs through Horner Woods to Webber's Post on Luccombe Hill and onto the wildest parts of Exmoor. In 1923 the track weaving into the distance was unsurfaced, and the tourist felt he was indeed on the edge of a wilderness. Since then the trees have advanced somewhat into the foreground; the track to Watercombe is now tarmacked, as is the right-hand one, which descends into the East Water combe on its way to Exford.
