More about this scene
The boat under construction here is one of the famed Brixham trawlers. A Brixham trawler was a two-masted yawl, which for its size (about 75 ft) was one of the most powerful sailing vessels when first built in the 18th century. It helped make Brixham the greatest fishing port in the land in the 19th century. In the foreground is a mast ready for stepping.
