Broad Hinton, The White Horse c.1955
Photo ref: B377003
Made in Britain logo

More about this scene

The Broad Hinton (or Hackpen) white horse is on Hackpen Down between Avebury and Swindon on the Marlborough Downs. It is amateurish in design, and the least impressive of all the Wiltshire horses. It was cut in 1838 to commemorate Queen Victoria's coronation. When the photograph was taken it was clearly in need of scouring.
