More about this scene
The view looks from Martin`s Hill across the valley of the Ravensbourne River. Ahead we can see the pumping station chimney. Behind on the skyline is the spire of the just-completed St Mary`s church in Shortlands, which was lost when it was hit by a German bomb in the Second World War.
