More about this scene

The Sugar Bowl stands south of the junction with Reigate Road, on the east side of the road. In the 1950s it was a restaurant offering morning coffee, luncheons, teas and dinners, and architecturally no great shakes; it has since been heavily modernised, and is now Heathside, a family restaurant, with a large block behind, a Premier Lodge hotel. The upper storey is now tile-hung and shorn of its oriel windows, half-timbered dormers and chimneys.

I used to live near Burgh Heath. The Sugar Bowl had a swimming pool, as did the Galleon, across the road. I went to school at Greenacre, Banstead, and the school children had swimming lessons at the Sugar Bowl
I was born in burgh Heath .we lived in Somerfield close as a kid we all played on the green at the bottom of the road went fishing over the pond worked on the farm in the summer pick plums behind the shops when they was rip lol all this was a long time ago Happy days
I went to red house school further down the road , And I have to say the best days of my life But getting back to the sugar bowl used to walk up with class mates and swim !! Absolutely Fantastic.. If there's anyone remembers the school please ,,,,, atm999@aol.com Thankyou Alan
The Sugar Bowl was a posh country club with an outdoor swimming pool, not as large as the Galleon. It Later became Il Pirata an Italian Restaurant.
