Many of the present buildings in Burley are Victorian and 20th-century, but the village itself is an ancient Forest settlement. People have certainly lived here since the Iron Age - a fortification from that period on Burley Beacon Ridge guards the surrounding heathland.

The Queens Head is where my Mum and Dad had their first date, after meeting on Burley Street, and went on to live in Burley and have six of their seven children, before moving to Surrey.
