Always In Trouble..

A Memory of Burnt Oak.

I attended Orange Hill between 1963 and 1969..best recall... Patricia Ranger...now Leary. My first year was at the school in Burnt Oak..I lived at the Spur Road estate and took the train from Edgware to Burnt Oak, then later walked to the school when it moved to Stanmore. My memories of Miss Wood was her manner of putting her finger to her face when chastising me for poor results in her French class. At one of the end of term skits, Hazel Ede and I dressed up as “litttle x and little extra”...Hazel weraring a griddle over her uniform and I had fabric stuffed up my tunic so I looked pregnant....we were immediately hauled off the stage by staff and our parents contacted ..but the student audience thought it was hysterical. I reminder Ms Lean who taught history, Mrs Friedlander...the only teacher I could relate to..who taught geography. I received a really good education there...even tho my grades did not reflect it...after all I was just a teenager. Was the era of rolling up your skirt as you walked home...and hiding your beret in school bag. My best friend was Marion Langdale...now Savage. She now lives in Radlett and we reminisce over the phone..just read an article about Gaby McGee who has since passed away and the amazing photos she had if The Who, whom she followed closely..as some may remember. Happy days.
