Annunciation Infants And St Martins Junior School Burnt Oak 1977 1983

A Memory of Burnt Oak.

I was born in 1973 and lived in Burnt Oak for 6 lovely years from aged 4 to 10 when we relocated to South London. I attended the Annunciation Primary School and St Martins School on Dryfield Road. I remember Toni and his lovely ice creams on the main road. I remember the park, the church and the priest Father Kiernan but above all I remember some of the lovely neighbours, friends and teachers around.

At St Martins there was a. young teacher called Ms Kilmartin. We all had the idea she was interested in and by another male teacher whose name I cannot remember. Before that I remember Mrs Fernandes and Miss O'Brien at the Primary School. I remember Brendan O'Neill, Martin Byrnes, Joanna Devine, Mark Firth, Edward Lyons, Justin Staunton. There was a young girl called Priscilla, also one called Kerry and Catherine who had moved over from Ireland in our class ca. 1982. I also remember a boy called Terence Glennon.

There are loads of others whose name escapes me.

Yes Burnt Oak has changed. I remember it as such as warm, working class place that set me up for life. I have been back a few times over the years but obviously almost all (perhaps realistically all) the people have now moved on. It'd be great to read from anyone who remembers those days and wants to share some memories from that period.

I was born in 1938 and I attended The Annunciation Primary School. In the mid 40s. I remember that we were schooled by Dominican nuns. I travelled by bus from Preston Hill Wembley as a child. I'm here to reach out to those whose memories are better than mine. I remember getting off the bus. outside the tube station. and walking down and to the right to the school. Thank you. Fernando.
Another memory I added the Annunciation primary school was the playground. It was divided by a very low wall. and one half was for the girls and one half was for the boys and we were not. allowed to mix. Would like to hear from others who have attended? that school in the. late 40s and early 50s. Thank you.
