Arrival At Saint James, Burnt Oak, After Being Expelled From Finchley Grammar School

A Memory of Burnt Oak.

I was sent to st. James around 1957, if I remember correctly. Should anybody remember me and be interested in contacting me, Brendan Ryan, don't hesitate. I cdon't have enough memory to recall how many times I was strapped by Kate along with my best mate Liam Ryan and or Bob Connor. I do remember one time standing in front of her office door smoking while waiting to be invited in for our punishment. I cannot say I was a good pupil and that was why I didn't stay ther long. I believe we were called juvenile delinquants at the time. I've been living in France since 1968 and have two kids, both married, and three grand children. I was told at school that I could never learn to speak French, I was too thick headed. Speak Italian too now. Cheers to anyone who may remember me.

I have great memories of St James, couldn't be more opposite to Brendan's. I was there from 1956 to 1959 and loved every day of it. I remember Sister Rose's Choir, Sister James, Sister Imelda and of course Kate and the 2 Walsh sisters, Kate's nieces I believe. I remember Gloria Wilson, the best looking girl at school and was lucky enough to take her out a few times. Great days, before my family moved to Australia. Peter Armstrong
