The American Girl At Orange Hill

A Memory of Burnt Oak.

It seems the older you get the more important and fun it is to delve into memories. My maiden name was Duer. Here is a list of memories that include the new school as well.
Loved art class and really loved the new art room where we had a great view of cows
Decorating our classroom for Christmas
Trying to stay inside when it was cold at lunch...always got caught
Sitting on bunkers
Finding caterpillars in the cabbage
Hearing Kennedy was shot when I was at school for a fair of some sort (it was Saturday)
Playing field hockey and stopping the teachers shot with my shin
Didn't write a single note when we were on a school trip to France yet I remember everywhere we went...I think. My mother had to help me put a scrapbook together to turn in. Luckily I bought postcards everywhere we went.
My best friend Jacky Robinson... she took me off the list of students at Orange Hill because she thought I hated the school after leaving. I still make her mother's recipe of coffee chocolate cake
The Latin teacher was so disappointed in my test results she just kept saying "aye Claudia Claudia Claudia" (with an Italian accent)
There was enough work to do without adding Latin to my schedule
I didn't stay until 5th form as I changed to a ballet/academic program took "o" levels there and got into a college in the US with just O levels! The English part of my education was just amazing and served me very well.
