More about this scene

Main Street crosses Church Street, the A612, to become Station Road as far as the railway line, which runs between the village and the river. Beyond the still- functioning railway station, the lane reverts to its pre-railway name of Stoke Lane, and heads for the Trent between an avenue of fine Lombardy poplars. The hedge on the right has been replaced by a fence, but the poplars remain intact.

River Trent At Burton Joyce
One of the self-closing 'kissing gates' where the watercourse from under the Cattle Arch (St Helen's Grove) reaches the Trent. All the riverside land was owned by Nottingham Corporation (Stoke Farm or Bulcote Farm) back then but now Severn-Trent, I believe. A favourite walk, for many, along the bank of the river.

Burton Joyce Primary School
I started school here in September 1966. I remember driving up in my dad's van from the Crossing House at 23 Trent Lane where we lived for my first Day in Mrs Marson's class. The first year classroom was at the far end of the school in this picture.

However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
