More about this scene
Here we see the harbour swing bridge, with the important Slate Quay visible on the right. This was connected to the slate mines by a narrow gauge railway. The harbour pier and landing-slip could accept vessels up to 400 tons. Over 200 vessels were registered to the town in 1893.
