More about this scene

Known by locals as 'The Cages', the three rows of lime trees were planted on the north east side of the road in the early 1840s. The road was called Wessington Avenue to make the approach from London more impressive. The mock-Tudor building (left) is the former offices of Blackford & Son, builders. The terraced houses were built about 1906.
