More about this scene
An office block has replaced those quaint shops, but the Duke of York survives, now minus its covered porch, at the junction with the Frimley Road. The hotel was built in 1816 at a cost of £677 5s. by William Belsher Parfett, from Eversley. York Town contained a wide variety of shops, and there was no need to travel elsewhere for one's needs.
