More about this scene
At this time Cardiff was a city slowly emerging from the austerity of the immediate post war era. At left, in line with the Lyons van, is the entrance to the Castle Arcade - a true gem amongst Cardiff's rich assortment of arcades. Opened in 1887, and entered below Albert Chambers, its remarkable galleried top floor is linked via a network of footbridges to create a labyrinth of small shops.
