More about this scene
The city was and is the capital centre of Wales, and this importance has increased - it is now a modern commercial and administrative centre for the nation. This relatively peaceful and rather provincial scene has now given way to real city hustle and congested traffic. Royal Arcade on the right is the oldest arcade in the city, which links The Hayes and St Mary Street. Built in 1858, the arcade is a fantastic example of opulent Victorian architecture, with some original shop fronts still surviving.
