A Trip Down Memory Lane

A Memory of Cargo Fleet.

I am very pleased to have found this site, I was on Friends Reunited but it closed.
I was born in 19 Chester Street in 1947, went to Lawson infants school, Smeaton Street and Middlesbrough Tech. My sister, Pat, grew up there through the war. My Dad worked at Tees-Side Bridge and Mom was the cook at Lawson school. Have a few school class pictures I will try to post.
Grew up with Graham Massingham, Walter Pursey and his brother (sorry, memory loss ), Malcolm(Lollo) and Brian Leech(both long dead), Kenneth Reed, Paul Matthews, George Thompson, John Dent, Kenneth and Maurice Hornigold, Mike Bainbridge, Terry Owens. Phew. I know I have forgotten many and haven’t included any girls but this is the first time here and I’m probably rambling.
When I figure out how or if I can post pictures I will and the first on

Remember John Dent the cobbler's son and the loft he had you climbed up to from the yard. Th ebloke who used to ride about on a penny farthing used to prop it up against the cobbler's shop. Jimmy, Tommy, Barbara and Ann Jones and their Mam Emma (their dad died of TB) lived next door to us at no 8 Chester St, we lived at no 10. Margaret Edwards lived at the back of us on Dover St roughly opposite where Kevin Howley the famous football referee lived.
I do not remember the penny farthing bike. We used to play cricket against the Dents back wall, must have been noisy occasionally.
Marie and Christine Hutchinson lived behind Krauses and their back wall was a meeting place of sorts, at the alley by Hilda’s.
