A Memory of Carmyle.

I was born in Motherwell and moved to Inzievar Terrace in 1940 Dad was away in the navy so mum and I lived with my Grandparents Francis and Margaret McKendrick I remember the steps I used to go up with my Aunt Margaret to get to Tollcross after the convoy arrived and pick up what little was available that we could afford. Then there was the Power Station where so many from Carmyle and Cambuslang worked, the weir where we swam the wall where many walked to cross the river.
The railway line behind us where we used to go and pick up the coal that "fell'' off the train. The new estate down toward the sewage plant on Park Road and the lane behind our house that I used to get to school at Mount Vernon and to pinch apples in the season from the walled orchard at the top of the lane.
We left for Australia in 1950 but my memories are still off a place I love.
