Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

The coming of the railway in 1856 prompted a rapid expansion of this village: in 1851 it had a population of only 437, which within twenty years had grown to 3,577. These enterprises all sprang up in a new settlement around the station. On the left, at the top of Godstone Road, were J Kilby's livery stables, while on the opposite corner George's Uridge's grocery store and Lovegrove's clothing and outfitters are housed in grandiose buildings.

Caterham Hill
CATERHAM HILL - High Street and Chaldon Road I lived in 20 Chaldon Road and 5-7 High Street, Caterham Hill as a young child from about 9 years old. I went to the Infant school in Chaldon Road. On Friday mornings a Siren was used to attend school, I think an air raid siren. The Boys Brigade used to meet in the evenings in the school playground. The Fleet Family
St John's Church was where all 5 of the Fleet Family children, Shirley, me, Michael, Herbert Terry, Peter, and Susan were baptised, starting in 1935 through to 1946. Our School was opposite, and we walked all of the way from "Northdowns" at the junction of Harestone Hill road and Harestone Valley road to school daily. It's a long way for little legs.. Marden Park
Marden Park was the furthest extent of our cross-country run from Caterham School (Wapses Lodge) in 1951. We would leave the school, cross the Caterham by-pass, run on a bridle path between fields (which I believe, in 1944, were used as a huge parking area for military materiel in the build-up to D-Day), down on to the Woldingham Road, under the viaduct and onto Marden Park Road. Caterham Valley, Timber Hill, Bromley Hall Corn Merchants.
I will be 72 years old this year of 2015. I remember working with my uncle Syd and Auntie Chris Ryder at Bromley Hall Corn Merchants at the Godstone Road end of Timber Hill on the site which later became Fine Fares supermarket. Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
