More about this scene
St Paul's Church, behind the cottages, was founded in the 13th century. Rebuilt by the Tudors and again by the Victorians, it contains interesting relics of its history. Re-set in the bridge opposite the Black Bull Inn, by which the photographer stood, is a hollow plague stone where villagers left money to pay for their goods.
