Fond Memories, A Little Haven Where I Still Feel I Belong....

A Memory of Cawsand.

I recall many a happy memory at Cawsands and kingsand, fathers family were from Millbrook.
we spent many many hours at both. I recall waiting for the ferry boat from Plymouth to come into the beach. My aunty Ruth, dads sister, was coming with new red plastic shoes for me,Then when she arrived and I had on my new red shoes(beach shoes), running into the sea, I fell in the water nearly drowning if my father hadn't seen me. I lost my red shoe as I fell and I recall crying as it floated out to sea.

I also recall cutting my big toe on some glass and my Other Aunt taking me in to a house on the front, sitting me in a sink and cleaning it for me, I wasin both instances under 7.
We used to get limpets off the rocks in our buckets and take them back to grans where she would cook them up ...yuk !!

We used to have picnics on the beach was great fun, also I recall the carnival from MILLBROOK, coming into cawsands and my Uncle Terry being on one of the floats, there was a boat in the bay and the men had to walk the plank as part of the carnival.

we used to walk over to Sandway beach and use our nets in the rock pools. I love the place all that area holds really fond memories for me when I was a child.
