Diplock Cottage
A Memory of Chadlington.
My grandparents also lived at Diplock Cottage next door to the Sandys Arms pub. It was a church cottage which was rented out to those from the community who had undertaken some notable service for the parish of St Nicholas. My grandfather, Buster Cox, maintained the churchyard. He and my grandmother, Betty, lived there from the early 70's until around the start of the 90's when my nan was moved to a nursing home. The 'Roly' in the other Chadlington account was probably Roly Shurmer - a gentleman of great character! In 1977, I and a friend stayed with my grandparents for the Silver Jubilee celebrations. True to form the weather was pretty rubbish but we had a good time.
