More about this scene
What a peaceful scene is captured here on camera. It is early morning in Charlbury, an Oxfordshire village on the River Evenlode. The proprietor of J L Brooks' ironmongery shop has not yet opened the shop's wrought iron entrance gate. Albert Bowen, licensee of the Hunt, Edmunds & Co pub is not yet serving Banbury ales, wines and spirits. But for the young girl with the satchel on her back, the start of another school day beckons.
