More about this scene

Woodstock House is a country house hotel nestling in the Downs below the heights of Charlton Forest. We are near Goodwood racecourse, hence the racing scene on the hotel restaurant signboard. The buildings have flint walls and thatched, tiled and slate roofing. The rendered and painted façade in the central building probably conceals an older building. Nearby are Goodwood House and Park, built in 1660 and greatly extended in 1760. It is The Duke of Richmond's estate, and has fine art collections. The park is noted for trees and views and is open to visitors.
