A Memory of Charlwood.

My parents ran the Rising Sun pub in Charlwood where I lived from 1954-64. I often went fishing and sometimes even swimming at the Brickyard pond which at the time was owned by Mr. Dearn, whose son Malcolm I went to school with. In addition to the pond there were many old workings that used to flood forming a network of waterways, many of which contained fish. I now reside in Southern California and have fond memories of the Charlwood area.

Lovely bit of history. I also lived in the Rising Sun from around 2004 to about 2006. At the time I moved in, Jan and Ian where land lord and land lady, then later came Milford and then after that my ex wife took over and on the day she moved in, I came in and asked for my old job and room back, that night I got really drunk and was showing her what all the different keys where for, I then went back to my mum's house and told my mum I was going to marry her!! About 3 years later I did!. We are now separated and have been for years but are still really good friends.
