More about this scene
Here we see the east front of Chatsworth from the French Gardens, now with pillars removed and known as the Rose Garden. The gardens were almost exclusively the work of Joseph Paxton, the Duke of Devonshire's gardener and architectural genius, who went on to design London's Crystal Palace.
