More about this scene
This is the eastern entrance to Nonsuch Park, with the stone cross and drinking fountain erected in 1895 to the memory of W F Gamul Farmer by his eleven surviving children. He and his large family had occupied Cheam Park House in the Victorian era. The memorial was later moved a few feet to accommodate traffic safety requirements, but the brick piers of the gateway with their wrought-iron gates are all still in situ.
