More about this scene
The shadow of Cheam Court in the foreground indicates that this photograph was taken shortly after noon on this summer's day. The corner site (right), with Price's confectionery and newsagent's shop beneath the flats above, has now been developed. Next to the International Stores, with its sun awning unrolled, is Sergeant's long-established cycle and perambulator shop with advertising signs promoting Raleigh and Rudge products. The spire of St Dunstan's church is clearly visible rising above the shops.
