Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

Glen Middle Mill 1908 If Sally Spencer, the lady looking at the photographer, came back today, she would see that almost all in this view (except the rear block of Pavey's Temperance Hotel) has been demolished since 1908, partly for road widening to cope with Cheddar's enormous volume of tourists. A remnant of the outbuilding on the left is incorporated in Fortes Ice Cream Parlour. Pavey's rear block is now Old Rowlands, selling pottery.

Steart Cottage Wedmore Rd. Cheddar
When i was a little girl my mother and i would go on holiday to Cheddar and stay with her brother Wiliam Smith and his wife Eliza. Their adult chlidren were William George , Doreen, lenard and Albert Dibble Smith.

My maternal grandparents lived in Cheddar from 1890 to 1950. My grandfather owned a shop in Bath Street which was a tobacconist/barber/ photographer business and he took early postcard photos of the village, including some of the Cheddar man skull when found in Goughs cave. Family Pearces
Hi My great-grandfather and my grandad lived nr here on Manor Farm and the Old Priory, in 1700 to 1901.

The 1960s
I lived my early years here, until the 1970's, having been born in Wells and brought home to Cheddar as a baby. I have many family ancestral links to Cheddar via my father's parents. In the late 1800's-early 1900's my great-grandfather John Day ran the Gardener's Arms in Silver Street, with his wife Emma. My parents lived in Birch Hill (also known as Bush Hill and Burdge Hill on older maps and records) from the 1950's ...see more

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
