More about this scene
A view of the River Wye as it flows through the limestone gorge of Chee Dale, between Bakewell and Buxton. The limestone cliffs overhanging on the left of the photograph shade clumps of water-loving butterbur, the leaves of which were once used to keep butter cool and fresh.
