More about this scene
The Infirmary (on the right) was built opposite Coleman & Morton's ironworks - a firm that had specialised in ploughs and cultivators, but closed as a result of the agricultural depression. A skating-rink had appeared on the site by 1919. The Infirmary - by then Chelmsford & Essex Hospital - closed its wards and most of its departments in the late 1980s. Its frontage is a protected building and still stands, housing a small range of health services.
