The Chelsea Palace

A Memory of Chelsea.

I remember the Chelsea Palace with great memories. My dad, used to work the spotlight on the stars - like Max Miller, Max Wall and Ann Shelton. I was so proud to think that it was my dad shining the light on the star of the show - great times!

Is it Irene Williams of Manor Buildings, was your Dad Bill Williams, and are you the sister of Kenny Williams? Len Watkins, formerly from Manor Buildings, Chelsea.
My dad used to treat us to a show at The Chelsea Palace. I remember Max Wall particularly. It was a proper theatre of course, with an orchestra. It was a shame when they pulled it down. I also recall the theatre near Fulham Broadway (The Grand?). Again replaced with nothing of interest.

Yes I was IRENE Williams then there was Dixie,Barbara, Ken ,mick Jean PAM Peter val Dennis & Ray unfortunately there's only Peter & me left now,I remember you Lennie and Frany happy days and great memories !
My mum and dad often used to talk about the Watkins family. Is your sister called Phoebe? My mum is Rose McCreedy of the McCreedy family who lived in Chelsea Manor Buildings (they formerly lived at Onslow Buildings, a slum as it then was, in Pond Street). When Chelsea Manor Buildings were built most of the residents of Onslow Buildings were re-housed there. My dad was Roy Wells, of the Wells family, who also lived and grew up in Chelsea Manor Buildings.
We would go to the “Palace” to see a pantomime every Christmas. Would love to yell out “Look behind you” when the villain sneaked up.
