More about this scene
The River Brett is spanned by two adjoining 18th-century hump-backed bridges, one of which is dated 1754. The Peacock (centre), named after the owner and not the bird, had a shop, which shut in 1977, built under the jetty in the 18th century. The house to the left, built c1500, had a single-storey shop extension added c1800. The house to the right has been rebuilt with dormer windows.
