Cheltenham, The Promenade c.1960

More about this scene
Once eulogised in The Times as 'the most beautiful thoroughfare in Britain', Cheltenham's Promenade began its existence as a walkway from the High Street to a spa pump room that stood where the Queen's Hotel now stands. Apart from its pedestrianisation, much of the Promenade is unchanged since this photograph was taken.
