More about this scene
Beaufort Square is very much the hub of Chepstow. The markets, which were so important to the town, were held here until they moved to a new site by St Mary`s Church, where there is now a car park. The buildings on the High Street which we can see behind the horse (left), were demolished to widen the road for 20th- century traffic.
