Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

A Memory of Chertsey.

The boys home was an awful place but I remember falling in love with a blonde haired angel who like me, attended Stepgates School. Her name was Gillian Vincent and I still have a photograph of her tucked away somewhere. After this romance ended, I fell for Josephine Roake of Station Rd, Chertsey and later, for her her elder sister Josephine, with whom I corresponded briefly after leaving the home in 1951. These are some of my happier memories but sadly, I still (aged 76) shudder when I think of the cruelty and bullying which went on at the home. With the current sad news regarding the abuse of young boys at Welsh boys homes, I say again......Who really cares?

My grandfather built a log cabin in St Theodore back in 1930s. James W died before I was born but back around 1950 Dad took us to see the area and to see the cabin. There was a family that lived across .. I think their name was Patrick - French speaking and the woman showed us a pine that she had planted when she was a young child. I thought her to be in her 80s at that time. I am planning a trip to see the place again - I am hoping that grandfather's log cabin is still there and that I will find it. I have no clue where it is - Lac Gratton rings familiar to me. I hope someone can respond to my memory and help me to find that log cabin and maybe know some history of his garage that was in town. We heard that it no longer is there - How I would love to hear from someone who knows.. Thank You .. Helen Wills.
