More about this scene
In 1959 a pedestrian bridge (C294083, pages 48-49) was built on the Cooperative side to the rear of the new shops; it was used until 1964, when it was taken down. The old stone bridge was removed in stages and replaced by the existing bridge, which was officially opened on 2 May 1966. A relic of the old stone balustrade from the bridge is preserved behind the new shops where the mill once stood.
