The old Claughton Garage and the Fenwick Arms can be seen in this view. The Fenwicks, an influential family, had lived there - hence the inn's name. Claughton Hall, a Tudor mansion near the church, was moved stone by stone higher up into the hills.

I remember long, warm summer holidays spent at my Nanna and Grandad's farm, 'Toll Bar Farm', when I was a child. I remember helping to call the cows in for milking, the large beasts swaying, their udders heavy with milk.
