On the extreme right of the picture is one of the majestic elm trees, sadly gone now, due to the ravages of Dutch Elm disease. The trees were such a feature of the village landscape in those days.
They had six daughters Sarah born 1880,Violet 1883 Mabel 1887, Edith 1890, Clara 1892,and Daisy 1895 my grandmother.

I remember this shop very well, there was still sweet rationing then. Georgeous smells. Mr Parker called on Wednesday to take the order and delivered them on Friday even after we moved to Wainscott. What price Tesco Home Delivery!
