More about this scene
The six-arched bridge, designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott, was built in 1864 using bricks made locally. During the same period he also rebuilt the church, which had become derelict. On the south bank of the river is the Barley Mow, which is featured in Three Men in a Boat.
