Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

Situated on the Clyde, opposite the mouth of the River Cart, Clydebank was little more than farmland until 1871–72, when J & G Thomson began the construction of a shipyard. Clydebank went into production in 1872, with three steamers being built for Thomas Skinner of Glasgow. A town eventually grew up on land behind the shipyard. The swelling population certainly seems to be causing congestion on this narrow bridge.

My Mixed Up Childhood
Holly Street....my mixed up childhood. My parents had been married before, so when I arrived, I already had four brothers. Malcolm, Robert, John and Brian. My gran and granpa stayed opposite our house at 1Holly street, and it was decided that John stayed with them. We later moved into 23 Holly Street but for some reason, John continued to stay with my grandparents and I eventually thought of him as a cousin. ...see more

1948 Onwards Radnor Street
I was brought up in Top Flat, 29 Radnor Street. Last Close, Westwards. Went to Kilbowie primary school when it opened. Remember newspaper boy selling school photos as the first post-war school to be built. Also the plasticine - have a box of it in the house. Remember morning service and school dinners; 'frog-spawn' (sago) and semolina with a dob of jam. Also remember the 50's snow drifts and storms ...see more

School Days
I lived at 27 Radnor Street, last but one tennament to be flattened. My first year of school was at the "new high school", on Bouquanaran; 10 class rooms open, we had to scramble among the bricks to get to class. Then I went to Radnor new primary school, next I went to the old high school down in Clydebank, outside toilets and the roofs had been blown off so it was a chilly sit. School And Before
I lived in Holly Street, North Kilbowie, I was born there 1949. My gran and grampa moved into 1 Holly Street in 1939 before the Second World War. The stories they knew about the blitz were funny as well as tragic. I lost my great-grandpa, his body was recovered without a mark on him. I now move forward to 1954, the year I started school. Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
